Monica Rae Brown

Monica Rae Brown is an Editorial Assistant at Random House, where she has worked with authors including Tom Brokaw, Emma Cline, David Finkel, Robert D. Kaplan, Tracy Kidder, Jon Meacham, Tiya Miles, Anna Quindlen, Karen Thompson Walker, and Isabel Wilkerson. Prior to joining Random House, she interned with two literary agencies and with Booklist. Monica is interested in books that inspire empathy, curiosity, and action. In nonfiction she is drawn particularly to narrative and journalistic works, especially those that explore social inequity, language, niche moments of history, and the relationship between the individual and the larger world around them. In fiction, she loves immersive, gripping stories filled with rich, complicated characterization and unusual perspectives. She is always interested in complex worldbuilding and interpersonal relationships; lyrical, image-filled writing; and a touch of magic or wonder.
