The Pretty Victory
Day OneStay Present in Your Blessings!I started in the entertainment industry in 2016. I was doing funny skits on social media, working for my big break. I didn’t want to be left behind, so I pushed myself to be the hardest-working woman in the room. I didn’t take a break, ever . . . until the headaches and exhaustion came and I had to sit down. Then I settled into a moment of reflection, embracing the stillness and allowing myself to truly appreciate my accomplishments.
Most of the time, life pushes us from one task to the next. It’s a perpetual cycle of doing, doing, doing without ever taking a moment to simply sit and relish our blessings. We get so caught up in the hustle that we forget to look around and be grateful for what we already have and what we’ve already accomplished.
Stop stressing! I’m talking to you, the person who is reading this right now. Stop trying to move so fast—you can move at your own pace. Trust me, I’ve been there, and I missed many great moments because I wanted to keep working instead of appreciating what I had. Tomorrow isn’t going anywhere—all those tasks will get done. You need to find stillness today.
The next time you achieve something, no matter how big or small, pause and savor it! Give yourself a well-deserved high five, and bask in the glow of your accomplishment, reveling in the joy that brings. These are the moments that make life meaningful, and they deserve to be cherished and celebrated. Life is not just a series of tasks to be completed; it’s a collection of moments to be experienced, savored, and remembered. Your hard work deserves a seat at the table of your blessings.
Time to Write It OutIn this moment, release your thoughts on being present in your blessings.
Pretty PrayerDo it for them, Jesus. Period.
Day TwoA Delay Is Never a Denial!Don’t you hate the words not now? Don’t you hate a “We’ll see,” a “Maybe someday,” a “Check back with us at a later date”?
These delays feel like denial. They feel like rejection, like closed doors with no hope of other ways in. But just because they feel that way doesn’t mean they are that way.
When I first auditioned for
Wild ’N Out, I went all the way to New York City with no money whatsoever and no idea what to expect. I was so excited, but I didn’t really have any material—all I had were a few skits I was doing on social media. I just showed up, knowing that I had the gift of comedy inside me . . . and as I mentioned before, I got rejected. I thought that was a closed door—but it wasn’t, because the following year, they reached out to me again, and that time I did get on.
I have been told no so many times, have faced countless rejections. But each one served as a spark of motivation, pushing me to keep going. To achieve your dreams, your purpose has to be like a fire that burns brighter in the face of adversity, propelling you to work harder, dream bigger, and strive for excellence.
We all encounter moments when we hear that two-letter word: no. It can be disheartening, discouraging, and even soul-crushing at times. But here’s the secret that refueled my resilience and determination: No is not the end of the road; it’s just a detour. It’s a temporary delay.
I want you to imagine the path that leads toward your dreams—it’s filled with twists, turns, and unexpected obstacles. Sometimes, usually when you least expect it, a no sign appears, forcing you to stop, like a red light. But it doesn’t mean you gotta turn around and go back! It’s just a pause, a brief delay in your journey, a moment to catch your breath, reassess your route, and gather the strength you need to keep going forward.
Time to Write It OutIn this moment, release your thoughts on getting through the delays.
Pretty PrayerYour blessings will come when it’s your season!
Day ThreeIt’s Human to Be Afraid of the UnknownI had anxiety when I got out of college. I was afraid of the what-ifs and the maybes, afraid of not immediately getting a radio job. Afraid of the unknown. Fear gripped my heart and got ahold of me. I thought I would be the next big thing in radio . . . but no job interviews happened. I had no referrals, no contacts.
Everyone faces a season where they are scared to step out. But I’m here to tell you that your fear does not have control of you. It’s okay to be afraid. You don’t know what’s going to happen next. But here I am, screaming that it’s time to put that fear aside! This is your season for success, and you are going to get whatever your heart desires.
So let’s take a look at your anxiety. Maybe you’ve been doubting your abilities or your gifts. Maybe you’ve been questioning whether you’ve really got what it takes or are ready to take the next steps. But I am here to tell you that you’ve got this! You are more than capable, and this, right now, is your time. It’s true that anxiety is a tough enemy—but it’s not invincible. You have the power to overcome it, to rise above its whispers of doubt, and to reclaim your season of victory.
Don’t stay stuck, and don’t allow the spirit of anxiety and depression to overtake you. God has the last say-so. Don’t allow the negative thoughts to steal your season of victory. They are like weeds that can choke your growth and cut you off from your purpose. Get rid of them. When you catch yourself looking back on past roadblocks and delays, remember—they were there to push you onward. Keep going, plant your feet where they need to be, and keep your eyes on the path ahead. This is your season to step out and seize everything your heart desires. Let your anxiety be the fuel that propels you forward, not the anchor holding you back. Just walk into your victory with a fresh pair of Jordans or YSL shoes on. Y’all are going to be all right. I believe in you.
Time to Write It OutIn this moment, release your fears and anxieties. What is holding you back?
