Leila Tejani is an Assistant Editor at Random House, working with authors such as Hanif Abdurraqib, Salman Rushdie, Halle Butler, Emily Nussbaum, Olivia Gatwood, and Kate Folk. Leila is interested in literary fiction, literary genre fiction, and upmarket fiction by authors of marginalized backgrounds. On the nonfiction side, she is interested in narrative nonfiction, journalism, and criticism that explore pop culture, literature, current events, and history in creative and urgent ways. She is drawn to stories that amplify Asian, African, and BIPOC voices, urban settings, niche subcultures/occupations, and dark humor in both fiction and nonfiction. Prior to joining the Random House team, Leila worked in a neuroscience lab and in HBO’s marketing department. She is a graduate of Columbia University.
