Alison Rich is Senior Vice President, Deputy Publisher, Random House & Hogarth Books. She spent the first two decades of her career as a publicity executive in the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group working with bestselling and acclaimed authors including John Grisham, Jon Krakauer, Margaret Atwood, Tina Brown, Colson Whitehead, Jennifer Egan, Ian McEwan, and Hanya Yanagihara, among others. She later joined the Strategic Development group at Penguin Random House, where she developed the company’s first agile team dedicated to extending author reach and revenue across adjacent businesses such as podcasting, online learning, licensing, merchandising and the Penguin Random House Speakers Bureau as well as via proprietary tools and programming such as the Penguin Random House Author Portal, Author University, and more. She has served as a mentor and coach for Bertelsmann’s Creativity Bootcamp program, taught business development in NYU’s MS in Publishing: Digital & Print Media, and is a board member of Worldreader.
