Leila Tejani (she/her) is an Assistant Editor at Random House, The Dial Press, and Modern Library working with authors such as Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, Aruni Kashyap, Kaveh Akbar, Arman Salem, and the estate of Seicho Matsumoto. Leila is interested in literary fiction and literary genre fiction that brings out the worst and best in humanity, especially by authors of marginalized backgrounds. On the nonfiction side, she is interested in narrative nonfiction, journalism, and criticism that discusses history, literature, sociology, and science in deep and urgent ways. She is drawn to stories involving niche subcultures/occupations, far flung times and places, and dark humor in both fiction and nonfiction. Prior to joining the Random House team, Leila worked in a neuroscience lab and in HBO’s marketing department.
